How do you open and close this book turned stool of mine?
Choose a book by its cover (go ahead, this is the one time it's okay):
- Set the book down on a flat surface and untie the ribbon.
- Watch the book transform as you join ends together (magnets inside will assist). Do not pull on the ribbons to guide the ends together. Pull on the stronger book ends.
- Tie the ribbon to secure ends
- Add seat pad and admire your cool new functional art piece.
- Sit. relax. play. read. move around. REPEAT.
How do I maintain my Ren + Ro stowaway stool
Here are a few tips and tricks.
- For first time use, make sure you open up and slightly stretch out the chair before you guide it into its circular shape. This helps loosen up the form.
- Make sure to sit on a flat, smooth and stable surface. This will help prevent any dents or tears on the cardboard.
- When chair is not in use, make sure you use the elastic band to keep book compressed tight.
What happens if i get the stool wet?
This stool is lightly water resistant, but not waterproof. If you happen to get water on the stool, please wipe it off with a towel and allow to dry before use. If there is a lot of water damage you might see a water stain.
Feel free to use outside, humidity should not be a problem.
What is the material made out of?
The stool is made from recycled cardboard. The colorful cushioned tops are made out of polyester felt.
But for real, can this paper stool hold my weight?
Yes! don't judge a book by its cover. The honeycomb structure can take on at least 200 lbs of weight.
That said, please don't test this out by using the stool for anything more than sitting on or holding light objects.

Are the chairs good for outdoor use?
Feel free to use outside, humidity should not be a problem. Just try not to use it as your new pool, beach chair or water float.
I see some dents in the paper, does it affect the strength of the stool?
While you might be able to dent and leave impressions on the top and bottom layer, it will still flex, expand and hold your weight over the course of time. Expect to see wear on the top and bottom layers and consider it as a book well read.
What's the best age range for use of the stool?
3yrs-100yrs. Seriously, if you can stably sit upright, weigh less then 200 lbs...you are good to go. Have a seat.
This product is meant to be used as a seat. Please do not stand or place heavy objects on it. Adult supervision is recommended.
